Floodplains? What Floodplains?

I have a MAJOR problem.

I don't have any floodplains in my game. I don't mean in this particular map that has been generated, I don't mean in the last few maps that I've played. I mean in the whole damn game there hasn't been one Floodplain.

I've even went to the Civedit and tried to 'paint' floodplains onto the map, but to no avail. It just comes up as a desert square.

So I'm going to uninstall Civ3 and the V.11.6 (or whatever it is) patch, then reinstall them again. But if this doesn't work, what the hell do I do? Or have I got the wrong end of the stick and do floodplains look like Desert Squares?

Any help appreciated.

floodplains look like desert because they are desert that is next to a river.

Flood plains do look mainly like desert squares but are much more productive... They occur when a river is present by a desert square. Because rivers are "in between" tiles, if desert surrounds a river, both sides of the river will become flood plain. A basic flood plain produces 2 food and 1 trade, if irrigated they produce 3 food. They cannot be mined. Next time you see what looks like a desert tile by a river, go to the terrain info. It should say; flood plain-2 food, 1 commerce 0 sheilds. If not, somethings seriously wrong...

*roflmao* OMG... I feel such a n00b now. Let's just leave this to drop silently to the bottom of the forums now, shall we? :p

Thanks for your help. :)

*walks off muttering about how he can top the Histrograph in Civ3, yet doesn't know the diffrence between Floodplain and desert...*

It's 3 food, and 4 if it's irrigated.
The 2 food comes from the fact that you start under despotism.
