Fog - Can't see anything!

Hi, just bought Civ IV but all I get is the fog on the screen that is supposed to clear as you explore. It clears on the minimap but remains on the main screen, it seems to be clear further down the screen but in the wrong place.

Tried downloading a patch but then I just got a dx error message after that.

I'm guessing someone has encountered this before, tried searching the forum but nothing came up about it.

Does your meet the hardware requirements for the game?

Yeah, my PC either meets or exceeds the recommended requirements. Running on XP. It seems that the fog is in the wrong place, if you centre on a unit it's as if the unit is still in the fog, and the clear area where you should see the terrain is just below the screen view.

All a bit weird.

how much ram do you have for system memory ? and how much for your gpu ? what flaver card you are running AGP or PCIe ? Got the latest drivers ? do you have xp sp2 installed ? we can fix this !

Managed to sort it. What a dafty, downloaded the latest patch, did the download for the d3dx32.dll file missing, updated my drivers an voila..... It works now, phew! Only took an hour in the end, was worried I was going to have to dig out Civ II and start playing that again to get my fix!
