Folder gone missing.

I had a folder within the My Pictures folder on my computer that today has gone missing. I don't know what happened to it. I haven't deleted it (unless something else did that). It was there before because I use the pictures in the folder as a screensaver, and only noticed it was gone when the screensaver said that it couldn't find any images in the folder.

do you know the folder name or the name of any of the files in it? Run FIND on that. It'll tell you where it is if it still exists. Or look int the trash manually.

I know the name of the folder. I tried running a search but it couldn't find anything, and it's not in the recycle bin.

I've had folders randomly disappear on me, too. Were you doing anything with it? There is the awful shift+del accident!

I also recommend doing a virus/spyware scan.

I wasn't doing anything with the folder.

I did do a spyware scan before the folder went missing, along with uninstalling progammes I never use and defragmenting my hard drive.

Was it associated with a program you deleted?

Maybe it got renamed. Did you check the other folders?

In WinExplorer, under Tools > Folder Options, check the View Files dialog box and set it so you can see both Hidden and System folders--there are two settings in there.

It's a long-shot, but maybe your maintenance somehow caused the folder to acquire hidden or system attributes, which would mean you can't see it normally.

I already have "show hidden files" on before it went missing.
