For all those who've played ctp2
Undoubtably, civ3 is better than civ2. But ctp2 was also better. I don't think anyone can doubt the superiority of the ctp2 editor. You can place cities and units. There are alot of options on the civ3 editor but most of them don't work. I think that many aspects of civ3, like nationality, diplomacy, difficulty and animated leaderheads are an improvement of ctp2. On the other hand, ctp2 has more units, more civs, better ranged warfare, a city placing editor, a non-cheating AI and it doesn't give the impression that it was rushed out.

Ctp2 provided an opportunity for a better civ3 game. I personally feel ctp2 is the better game.

What does eveyone think?

And I hear that CTP2 improved on it's combat engine... No longer can spear men shoot down stealth fighters.

Let's hope the patch/mod/upgrade for Civ3 does likewise.

I shelved Call to Power II after about six weeks. I remains to be seen if Civ III faces a similar fate (it is about seven weeks now).

I hated the slavers in CTP. It made me reach for the easy early conquest every game. In virtually every game that I tried to play peacefully, slavers came. The only reasonable defense was to go wipe the enemy off the map. I tried blocking all the land routes, and other means, but it was just too stupid.
