If you could give a title to each hybrid affinity, to match the style of the existing ones, what would it be?

Purity
Supremacy
Harmony

Purity / Harmony: Divinity

This was an easy one; they remind me a bit of the fourth affinity concept I had. They come across as very superior and focus on genetically perfecting humans into super powerful and godlike beings -- clad in glimmering bronze/gold!

Harmony / Supremacy: Audacity

These guys are just very aggressive and reckless and strive for power no matter the cost to their humanity.

Supremacy / Purity: ?

I'm stumped on this one. Authority?

I think the best one for Purity/Supremacy is the most obvious: Mastery, given their domination over machines and their 'virtuoso' themeing.

I favour Ascendancy and Synergy for Purity/Harmony and Supremacy/Harmony respectively, but that's just personal preference.

I like the terming of Mastery for Purity/Supremacy - it conveys just enough of the elitism in their philosophy while also sticking to the virtuoso theme. Synergy seems to be the theme of Supremacy/Harmony, but given all of the unit names revealed, Audacity might work better. as far as Purity/Harmony, I think both Divinity and Ascendancy hit the theme really well.

Well GenEngineer kind of said everything I wanted to say.

So I'll just second his post.

With the exception of Audacity, sounds a little too much like teen angst.

Synergy or Ascendancy might be better.

Thereby making Divinity a shoo-in for Purity-Harmony.

Feeling snarky, I might suggest:

Indecision (Supremacy/Harmony)

Contradiction (Purity/Supremacy)

Paradox (Purity/Harmony)

But then again, "consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds," and I love the new hybrids even if I'm not sure they are necessarily philosophically consistent.

The more I think about it, the more I think Ascendancy is a better fit than Divinity for the Purity/Harmony hybrid. They don't place a high value on pre-existing divines, and aren't particularly religious as far as I can tell. They seek to make themselves divine, and this advancement is more carried out in the name Ascendancy.

I do think there's probably a better name than Audacity, one that hits the same concept with different connotations, but for the life of me I can't think of one. From what we've seen, that hybrid is focused on power at all costs, whatever works style of player, and with one of the only invisible units designed to backstab and assassinate armies, it does look like the hybrid's motto would be 'We Dare', which Audacity does bring through (while Synergy, although a cool name in it's own right and fitting of the use of Bio and Tech upgrading, does not), but I'm not sure what a better fit would be...

2 names for each, + 1 bonus :p

Ascendancy / Divinity

Audacity / Voracity

Mastery / Sovereignty / Mummery

I think Supremacy/Harmony should reflect recklessly pushing forward into uncharted territory and really embodying the values of "being the best at any cost."

They seek the ultimate goal of Supremacy, but without being tempered by cold logic and control.

They seek perfection like Purity, but without being constrained by arbitrary notions of what it means to stay true to their origins and essence.

They want the biological advantages of Harmony, but as a means to improve rather than forming a symbiotic relationship with their environment.

Something like "Potency" and "Ferocity" comes to mind.

Ascendancy / Divinity

Audacity / Voracity

Mastery / Sovereignty / Mummery

I like Voracity because it aligns with the destructive and brutal motif of the S/H units. It's like a hunger for power and advancement. Ferocity definitely works too.

I also feel like Mastery might be a really good candidate, it would make sense with both the regal nature of some of the units like the Baron and Countess as well as the artisan convention of the Eidolon, Virtuoso, and Maestro.

Divinity might've a bit too far as it's what H/P is striving for. I like the imagery of Ascension or Ascendency as it implies a progression.

Right, that's what I'm settling on if this ever goes to a vote.

Ascendancy

Ferocity

Mastery

@Westwall - I completely agree with those names. I especially like that Ferocity is so strikingly different than Harmony - It really implies a lot more pent up aggression, which unit names like Wrath seem to support.

Maybe too aggressive though without sufficiently conveying their no-hold-barred approach to progress.

I'd still vote for it, but short of that, Synergy works too I guess.

There is something satisfying about saying that word...

I like Ferocity as well. Neatly fits with their Fury name styles. Synergy now just seems too clean when their creations seem to be fairly messy and borderline monstrous.

Yeah, I dig Ferocity as well.

I also like Mastery over something like Authority. As said, it ties in nicely with the artisan themes they have in their names.

My picks would be:

Divinity
Ferocity
Mastery

Ascendancy - new humanity for both our history and new planet
Audacity - beyond the original flesh by all means
Mastery - man and machine, side-by-side, united we stand

Ascendancy - new humanity for both our history and new planet
Audacity - beyond the original flesh by all means
Mastery - man and machine, side-by-side, united we stand

What I liked in the original names is they were all good things (with some dark undertones)
Purity.. good (but what happens to the impurity)
Supremacy... a good thing (but what happens to the weak)
Harmony... good (but what about those who dissent)

So
Ascendancy (we ascend... others are left behind)
..also fits with Purity and Harmony....spiritual sounding virtues
and
Mastery (we master... others serve)
...fits with Purity and Supremacy... the masters must remain supreme and not contaminated by servants

Ferocity.. not as much
What I think it need is something encompassing unlimited (since they seem to have no real philosophical limits on what they will do)
so after a quick pop over to the thesaurus

Totality (a synonym without un/not in it)
also fits with Supremacy and Harmony...everything will be brought into harmony with us, because we are supreme [your technological distinctiveness will be added to our own]

I thought of another one for Harmony / Supremacy:

Rampancy

It has multiple meanings: still ferocious, but also means unrestrained (by ethics) and also growing abundantly (in power)

I think we're all more or less in agreement on S/P and H/P (Mastery and Ascendancy/Divinity), but it's just H/S that seems to be the one nobody's quite sure what to call.

"Ferocity" captures the intensity while "Synergy" captures the fusion, and still "Totality" does capture the ambition.

But what grabs all three? What word really encapsulates an affinity that recklessly combines the alien and the machine to create something completely otherworldly, unpredictable and immensely powerful?

"Rampancy" is also good, but not very ambitious sounding. Evokes too many images of marauding barbarian hordes, for me at least.
