I am still terribly confused about the FP (Forbidden Palace) I want to dedicate this thread to the FP and the SPHQ (Secret Police Head Quarters)

1) What is the old definition of the FP and SPHQ (un patched, version 1.00) as compared to the new definition with the new patch (1.12).

2) Is the FP supposed to REDUCE or ELIMINATE corruption in the city it is built in.

3) Has the "excess" corruption caused by the FP been fixed in patch 1.12.

4) Any other comments you have about the FP.

I really want to clear this issue up, I think everyone is confused about it. An official statement from Firaxis would also help to clear the air.

Please read my description here. It's too much work to reproduce everywhere, sorry.

Ok, that answers pretty much everything. Thanks a million!!

So, if I capture an AI capital and surrounding cities, then the corruption due to rank will be very small, right? Might it not make sense to build the FP in an AI capital and all the AI's former cities surrounding it will have very low rank and hence low corruption?

The FP-Bug is only partially fixed.

It reduces corruption, yes, but not the way it was intendet to.

It will be finally fixed with some patch in january.

I've postponed any patching til i hear it works right.

Funny thing, I've only built one FP so far with c3c right out of the box, and it seems just like the old one, which is perfect. I don't want it changed at all.

Which is to say, i get one red shield in the FP city, which is about the same as my capital - i can live with a couple percent loss.

The problem with the FP in the box version was not in the city it is build, but actually it increased corruption in the cities near your palace, s.t. building a FP can hurt you very much (which it does not in 1.12 BETA, but its benefits are not that big)

Yumbo,

That is an overly simplistic answer to the question.

If the question is, "Will the FP function exactly as I remember it?", then the answer is "No".

The FP has changed, as explained by Jesse Smith (Tavis), here.

How it affects gameplay (including the SPHQ and new specialists) remains to be seen.
