Hi all,

first, I love the BUG mod!

second, I've looked through the forums and even though I didn't find it, I'm sure it's been posted before, so forgive me if I couldn't find it in the 17 gazillion posts here but....

it seems like when I fortify units in a city I cant "wake" them up so they can move or do something else...

Does anybody know if this is a bug or not?

Like I said, please forgive me for posting here but searching for "bug" with the "BUG" mod has not been so successful because of the mod's name :)

thank you (...as I retreat back into my shell like a scared turtle)

Can you please explain further how exactly this bug shows itself? I have never had any trouble waking fortified units in my cities, so maybe I'm misunderstanding what you mean.

  1. Move a unit onto a city.
  2. Hit F to fortify it.
  3. ...
  4. Click the unit on the city--not the city bar.
  5. Click the Wake action button or simply give it another order.
I do know that for some very odd reason there's a short delay when selecting a unit that's on a city, but this exists in the normal (non-BUG) game, too. But that has never stopped me being able to wake the unit.

Oh, and I've never seen this mentioned before AFAICR, so no worries. Our choice of "BUG" for the name of the mod has caused two problems so far: the one you mentioned and the other that this forum won't search for words 3 letters or less. :(

Hi and thanks for the quick response:

What I did was this:

Build an archer in a city.

When it was done I immediately pressed "Fortify".

A few turns later I wanted to move him to another city.

I click on the city bar so I see a list of units that are in the city.

I click on the archer so I can select the "wake up" button, but all I get is the city's build menu...Normally I should ge the "wake up", "kill unit", "move to..." etc...but not here.

I remember this happened once with a great engineer that was "born" in a city...maybe it has something to do with a unit being immediately fortified in the same city it was created...?

I'll play around with it when I get home, maybe it's just something locally. I'll also try and post a picture.

If you can't recreate this, I'll try a clean install of BtS and re-install the mod. Maybe there is some sort of sludge in the works because of all the other mods that are installed.

It sounds to me like you missed the unit and clicked the bar below the city. The bar shows the city's name and what it's building along with some small icons above it (religions, corps, etc). This is the only time you should see the build queue and buttons for the city other than when you open the City Screen itself.

I don't think that's the case because when I click the unit, the little square around it becomes "yellow", I'll try and send a screen cap when I get home.

Okay, so you see the unit icon appear when you click the unit on the map? I just tested again with the latest SVN version (probably not what you're running), and it has no issues.

When you click on the city bar the units in the city are displayed, and if one of those units is the current unit, it will have a yellow highlight square around it. When you click the unit icon with the yellow square, do you hear the unit say "what do you want?" (or whatever is appropriate for the unit)?

Are you running any other mods?

Ok, I figured it out :)

I was clicking on the city bar and couldn't do anything with the selected units. But when I clicked on the city itself (the little picture of the buildings and stuff) then I could go through and wake up the units...glad to get that in order!

Since I have your attention...I have another question ...

In the little score board to the lower-right corner, there are a few icons that I don't understand (Forgive me if they are explained in the "ReadMe"...)

Next to the espioniage icon there is a number, like 0.5 then what looks like an arm. What does this mean?

Once again, thanks for helping me out...it's a great mod!

The help file (available online and in the game using CTRL + ALT + F1) describes what they mean but lacks pictures.

The number with a flexed arm next to it denotes your power ratio compared to that rival. The options screen allows you to change the ratio to be us-vs-them (default IIRC) or them-vs-us. It shows only for rivals that you have enough espionage points for the Demographics passive mission.
