Former world chess champ Kasparov running for President of Russia

There's elections in Russia?

That explains the whirlwind book tour!

Side note: That Maher show was fantastic last week, with the kicking out of the crazies.

Dictator Putin will never allow him to actually "run" for president.

And if his candidacy starts to gain momentum I wouldn't be surprised if he suffered an "accident".

Kasparov did make the point that it'd be too obvious. But then again, what could people do about it? Unless they really united, somehow.

Ah, so this is what happens to the legendary Kasparov.

There is no outsmarting the grandmaster

I was going to say the same thing about the USA. We already know who is going to win the "Race" in the USA. Whats the point of voting if you already know who is going to win?

Putin won't let him win that easily.
He can not run because he has not been in russia for like 10 years (Yes thats one of the rules)

I hope he wins. I know Putin will not allow it, but Russia is again on the path of tyranny.
Why do you american's allow "dictators" in america but when you think someone is a dictator in another country you criticism them?

Since you called a elected offical a dictator its my job to do the same. Dictator bush will never allow someone to tell him how to run his country. He might make someone "die"

Theirs election in the USA? HMM you mean the supreme court didn't pick bush in 2000 and bush won the election in 2004??

Of course, Putin can't run for President again until another President serves a term. Don't be surprised if he runs for Prime Minister, and centralizes power in that position.

Right, people are saying that this is exactly what will happen.
Unless oil drops to $20 a barrel, Putin will be around for 8 more years.:(

Well, if any of you want a book that basically predicted the path of the Putin regime, read Kremlin Rising: Vladimir Putin's Russia and the End of Revolution by Peter Baker and Susan Glasser.

HAHA I am Brazilian, I don't care with you call Bush ********

IMO, Putin and his KGB thugs killed Alexander Litvinenko and Anna Politkovskaya, shut down independent press, silenced the opposition and removed power from regional governors.

Russian Congress doesn't have the guts to confront or to defy Putin.
Putin is a dictator supported by high oil prices under the title of President.

Does that also sound like the US Congress? ?gasp, It does to me! BTW bush removed or tried to remove the powers that the governors had in dealing with the nation guard (I'm not too sure if he signed a bill or did a written statement!)
