Forum currently slow (March 20, 2025)

Right back to Thursday's problem: glacially slow getting to the Home Page of the website or the Forum, several errors getting to the Alerts.

Forum is basically unusable.

This time same as last time: The issue is somewhere deeper than us, more websites shold have issues.
To put it into relation: The issue is at a level that companies like Comcast or Vodafone will need to complain to another company which we've never heard of.
So... can't do anything, I'm afraid.

It got loads better for me about an hour ago or so.

Stayed away all day, as of a few moment ago seems to be working fine.

Just to note, after Thursday's problems and this mornings I went to every other website I normally frequent (and a few I don't that often) and none of them had any problems. That included several game websites for specific games and companies, general sites like Reddit and Discord, and foreign-based sites run by universities and other 'public' institutions. No problems anywhere but right here on CivFrantics.

After being great for a while I have just had a 502 from nginx for the first time in a few days.

504's and the site seems to be hanging up on what i assume to be the ad servers
edge.venatusmedia
doubleverify
and a few others don't seem to be working properly
somewhere between the site and the ad providers i'm guessing

Bad Gateway returneth. Hopefully it's not like this tomorrow when people are posting about the 1.1.1 patch.

In that case, what's between us and the ad servers?

It is now just after 3 pm my time, and this is the first time I've been able to get on the website since about 9 am this morning - 6 hours when loading was so slow it timed out, or gave an error message. This 3 days out of the last 5, people, and is beginning to feel like malicious intent somewhere instead of "it just happens" - so far, at least, it is not affecting any other website I can find: just Civ Fanatics.

Who did you folks P**s Off?

As the user numbers drop during these times, it's not an attack of any kind, then we'd be overloaded with users.

I have opened a ticket with Xenforo, just in case, to see if they can confirm issues on their end or with any other forums.

 that could be a logical other source. The main site is also affected, and it has technically nothing in common with the forum, BESIDES that ads are also provided by Venatus.
They are in theory quick to react when they get less ad impressions, which was certainly the case during the downtime.
If it's really the ads, then this would be puzzling.

Forums were down for nearly 4 hours, error 502 bad gateway.

I had an error 502 on my end, have you alerted your web host? It may come from them. Or maybe Xenforo is hosting CFC?
