Indeed they are. They're a breed local the region of northern Norway. They were used for farm work and all sorts of labour like hauling timber and stuff. Large horses were too heavy and awkward when traversing the wet and hilly terrain of the region so small sturdy horses were preferred. They also require less feed than a large horse during the winter. During which they grow thick winter coats and will thrive in well below zero temperatures.

Can they tölt, or is that just an Icelandic thing? The horses I rode there didn't always tölt, but when they did it was like gliding across the land.

I thought this would turn out better but oh well. Not that the second photo is bad, you just can't see me as well for comparative purposes. Anyways, here's a before and after:

You look great @hobbsyoyo, but your companies seriously need to get in the 21st century with their hiring practices!

Unfortunately they cannot, just the standard gaits. Around here the only tølting horses are Icelandic AFAIK. I wish all horses did the tølt, as you say, it's an amazingly comfortable gait to ride in. I've only tried it once or twice myself.
    So they're branching out?

Yeah because that's where the platform for the short people was. I really hope this was a joke post.

Also she's now the public face of the company - she does the webcasts for launch. They also promoted her. Super stoked for Jess

If they had positioned her at the front, all the nerds looking at the pic would have seen nothing else. :)

That's a bit presumptuous. You don't know who applied.

That's a huge chunk of the problem. The first company had a lot of woman and my team wasn't super indicative of what their hiring practices are. At the second company, we just don't get many female applicants because they tend to apply at the first company or other bigger firms. There's a lot of issues with STEM that keep women from entering the pipeline to get trained and hired but it's not entirely fair to point at these two pictures and have the takeaway that the companies are discriminating.

If you think hobbs' companies are bad, my employer has existed for over a hundred years and the first woman of color ever on the international staff was hired last year.

Your company could be doing a much better job actively recruiting talented women employees.
