The Union Protester Who Punched Fox News Comedian Steven Crowder Was Acting in Self-Defense, Will Not Be Prosecuted

Remember when conservative comedian and Fox News contributor Steven Crowder was punched in the face by a union activist outside a Michigan protest? Crowder made a big deal about it, even going so far as to challenge the protester to a "legal, sanctioned mixed martial arts bout." Then came the unsurprising revelation that the video was misleadingly edited to make Crowder look like an innocent, if obnoxious, victim.

That heavily edited video, which Fox News themselves released, is the reason why, on Monday, Ingham County Prosecutor Stuart Dunnings III announced he will not press charges against the protester, who Dunnings said was trying to defend himself.

"It's pretty clear the person that they wanted to charge was acting in self-defense," Dunnings said of the union member who apparently slugged Crowder.
...

Dunnings questioned why Crowder didn't initially provide that original footage to Dunnings' office.

"I'm not holding that against him, but why would they provide the edited video? The longer video clearly shows the guy got pushed down and came up swinging," Dunnings said.

Dunnings's decision was based on the state police's investigation, which reviewed both the edited and unedited versions of the video.

Crowder didn't respond to requests for comment from the Lansing State Journal or The Detroit News. But earlier this month, however, he did publish another insightful and hilarious column on how to deal with husbands badmouthing their wives.

If only that guy that was pushed down onto the ground had a gun.
Then FoxNews would have been all about self defense and gun rights.

Yeah, water is wet, the sky is blue and Fox likes to spin stuff in its favor. What else is new?

so days the world just seems right...
a union guy gets off charges ... and gets to slug a Murdoch journalist

hard to see what benifit the union guy would get from giving Fox another news story to edit ...

'Cause I'd never heard of this before.

i can only recommend you broaden your viewing habits...

Tony, we know who you are, come forward. I am offering you an ultimatum right now. You come forward, I press charges, you will go to jail. Or — since you like to sucker punch people — I will allow you to face me in the people’s octagon, in a legal, sanctioned mixed martial arts bout, where we can settle it man-to-man, one-on-one. And all of the money that’s been raised to find you, I will match it if you beat me and give it to a union of your choice. It’s your choice: jail or face me like a man. Send your answer on Twitter.

Yet another isolated incident to try and make Fox look bad. How many hundreds of times are we going to have to go through this before you libs give up on trying to turn all of these isolated incidents into some sort of pattern?

if you think we are going to stop when it reaches several thousand, well your got another thing coming as they say...

I've already said time and time again, I dont watch tv all that much, and when I do its usually actually news, not one of those news-as-entertainment shows.

most likely why you had not heard of it then...

Republicans are very bad at joining the dots, like "bin laden determined to attack inside the US", but are very good a joining other dots like Obama is a Muslim Kenyan.

Murdoch's empire is not of "isolated occurrences." Intresting how there are lot of these "ioslated occurences." The "libs" have a conspiracy to ruin Fox News image? I think Fox News has already done it with its ways. Britian is in fortune with the BBC or Murdoch's SkyNews would be like Murdoch's Fox New, although we are cursed by Murdoch's Sun, as well as (not owned by Murdoch) the Daily Mail/Fail/Hail/Hate.

Also: the Republicans are ultraconseratives so it would not do a favour for Conserativism by linking them with the Republicans.

You're not very good at recognizing sarcasm, are you?

In real life I am good but on the internet when I only have the words... it is possible to hear the tone of words when its written down? Or the body language?

You're supposed to use context and subtext. (They're not just for English class anymore.)

In your defense: There's so much genuine stupidity of the sort JR was parodying it's almost inevitable that someone, at least occasionally, will take posts like his to be sincere. It's the "collateral damage" of civil discussion.

The only way to avoid the confusion would be for everyone to dismiss all such posts out of hand and ignore them*. But do that and you may as well ban half the people contributing to forum discussions. Which would of course to totally un-American. (If around half the participants in a public discussion aren't proudly ignorant we may as well start eating brie and invite the Commissars in.)

*If you can't reply without at least implicitly calling someone an idiot, don't reply. If they didn't seem to understand their own post, don't reply. If there's a screamingly-obvious rebuttal that they've neglected to consider, don't reply. (I'd say JR's post, if it wasn't sarcastic, fits this one.) If you're in any danger of fitting this xkcd comic, don't reply: http://xkcd.com/386/

most likely why you had not heard of it then...
And why Mobboss incessantly tries to rationalize and defend their quite similar propaganda tactics to his own. :crazyeye:

Again, the immense power of freedom of speech strikes yet again.

Or in this case, look if it says JollyRoger right next to the post.

Loss of essence.

This guy knows what he's talking about. It's the same thing.

Spoiler :
Do you realize that in addition to fluoridating water, why, there are studies underway to fluoridate salt, flour, fruit juices, soup, sugar, milk, ice cream? Ice cream, Mandrake? Children's ice cream!...You know when fluoridation began?...1946. 1946, Mandrake. How does that coincide with your post-war Commie conspiracy, huh? It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? A foreign substance is introduced into our precious bodily fluids without the knowledge of the individual, and certainly without any choice. That's the way your hard-core Commie works. I first became aware of it, Mandrake, during the physical act of love... Yes, a profound sense of fatigue, a feeling of emptiness followed. Luckily I — I was able to interpret these feelings correctly. Loss of essence. I can assure you it has not recurred, Mandrake. Women, er, women sense my power, and they seek the life essence. I do not avoid women, Mandrake...but I do deny them my essence.
