Ok, paraphrasing a quote there - but in this game it couldn't be more true. This has happened on 3 occasions with different civs. I have good relations, then they get taken over - I liberate them, and sometimes I don't even get a thanks - normally they start taking the p*ss out of my lack of military or 'What do you want!?' type attitude (it was good enough to free them sheesh!). Until this is fixed, they can continue to live under occupation - preferably mine!

I guess the only point of liberating a civ is if you go for a diplomatic victory. Then they'll automatically vote for you. Otherwise there is no point at all. Liberating a city state is another matter - you become allies and you get various bonuses.
