My opinion is that she should have to pay the money back with interest, even if it takes her a lifetime.

That woman disgusts me. Nothing more to be said. She's an abomination of nature, and she can rot in jail.

Or a mental hospital. It's quite possibly a rather severe case of factitious disorder (hence the mention of psychiatric evaluation).

Meh, that's true. If she really is insane (but maybe she's faking that too!) she can go there. I guess its a reason not to be completely guilty....if she really is insane.

I get really tired of how the English and Welsh legal system persistently lets the old excuse of protecting minors inappropriately conceal adult criminals' identities.

If they reveal her identity they reveal the kid's as well. The kid has probably been through enough.

Lock her up, in a mental institution or gaol, for life.

Now I can see that all forms of welfare incite abhorrence and fraud 100% of the time. Shut them all down.

    So what.

A system that would put a journalist in gaol for telling the truth is not desirable.

I like how your second sentence has nothing to do with anything. It's completely possible for the legal system to punish this woman as appropriate without involving some form of mob justice (which is the only real reason I can think of for revealing who she is) or causing any further harm to the child (who must be pretty screwed up by the whole experience, and would almost certainly be best served by moving on from it asap). Why does it matter to you who this woman is?

Yes, sounds like it, though in [wiki]Münchausen_syndrome_by_proxy[/wiki] , the abuser is typically motivated by a (pathological) need for attention. In this case the mother got more than just attention.

As noted above, the new term for this is [wiki]Factitious_disorders[/wiki]

You know what makes this stand out as really abominable? I mean, aside from the very nature of the act, and the very fact that it's a horrible crime I could never even THINK of previously?

    20,000 pounds? Really? That's it?
