I just encountered this annoying bug in my latest BNW Deity game. This happened in the mid-late game where I had hammer built aqueducts in all my cities. I adopted all Tradition policies to get the 15% food growth bonus and faith buying GEs. This made the 4 aqueducts (free) in the first 4 cities that I settled. Then the bug occurred; upon my size 30 capital growing to size 31, the "Free" aqueduct did not store the 40% food! Only the 25% food was stored by the Medical Lab. The food required to grow to next pop is 419 :c5food:, so we are talking about a lose of 168 :c5food: with this bug!

I need to do more testing later, but it seems that the completion of Tradition tree made the 4 aqueducts free but useless.

Anyone else experienced this? It is very annoying since it is so food expensive to grow cities at this stage and losing the 40% carry over food in my top 4 cities is just ridiculous.

Uh, just to make sure, you do know that Aqueducts only store food while you have them (it's a gradual accumulation, not an instantaneous benefit). So if you get an Aqueduct right before population growth, you won't get any benefit of the Aqueduct this time. But next time, when you are building up your population base you will be storing food.

    Does that explain your issue?

As I stated in my op that I had already hammer built aqueducts in all my cities prior to adopting full Tradition. So they were already in place when the Tradition bonus made 4 of them "Free", and then these 4 "Free" aqueducts no longer work.

I think his explanation still counts. Your built aqueducts were 'replaced' by free ones, thus they hadn't stored any food.

This is ofc still a bug =)

Ok, I will play a few more turns and see if this still happens after the next population increase. Will update this thread. Thanks.

    Yeah, that is my hypothesis.

One quirky thing I've found pre-BNW is that if you already have a building and you get it "free", it still costs you maintenance. So you need to sell the building and then get it for free, to have a maintenance-free one. (That happened with Legalism, Tradition finisher, and Wonders that gave you a free building). Not sure if that has changed in BNW.

But please keep us updated. I am also interested in knowing if the Tradition finisher is bugged!

    Really?

ffs. I had always thought it might be an idea to sell the non-free building the turn before it is due to be replaced, purely as a cash generating exercise, but I'm rarely that mindful in games. I guess I will really pay attention now.

    Bug confirmed.

After my capital gained another pop to size 32, still only 25% of the food (from Medical Lab) carried over. See screen shot. So with the "Free" aqueduct after the Tradition Finisher, Neither the original hammer built aqueduct nor the new "Free" aqueduct worked. This is a bad one that can have huge impact on higher level difficulties where you need the fast growth to keep up and running specialists and etc.

Anyone know the best way to submit a bug to Firaxis? Thanks.

Good to know this. At least it's very easy to avoid the bug, just sell old aqueducts before choosing the last Tradition policy.
