There is a bug which lets you make as many hammers as you have popluation in your city while still maintaining food and being able to occupy tiles.

Here`s how it goes...

1. Farm your nearby tiles (preferrably ones that make your city grow the fastest)

2. Wait for a few growths for a minor bonus. Wait for 15 or more growths for a big bonus.

3. Once you have as many citizen as you want, simply unemploy them all.

4. Wait untill your city depletes to 1 population.

5. You will now notice that you have 1 person left in that city. However you still get the production from all of the unemployed workers. You now gain no unhappiness/research from them. They also don`t eat food. Go to your city screen. Do not touch the worker tile placement. Simply click on one of your unemployed icons which will automatically assign that citizen onto a tile depending on your preference (default, gold, food, hammers, etc...).

6. Now that you have assigned this one worker on a tile, your city will begin growing from population 1. Food requirement is according to the ammount of citizen what the game is now fooled into thinking that there are. However once you reach the same population as you were before, it somewhy realises it`s flaw and corrects the error, making all of the unemployed/specialists dissapear.

So lets say you have 24 people in a farm-specialized town. Unemploy them all, you get 24 hammers per turn. In 23 turns you can assign one citizen to work on a tile, making it 23 hammers. Now you`re once again starting to get the worked tile benefits. Grow your population up to 23 BUT stop there! Go to 24 and the game will reset, undoing the bug.

I haven`t fully tested this. If anyone has time to do so, i can quote their findings on the first post. I have reason to believe you can achieve infinite hammers by doing this in a certain way.

So no more specialist farms unlike in Civ 4?

Yeah, they cost too much happiness and the ammount of specialists you can build is capped by the ammount of corresponding buildings you have.

I haven`t had the time to try but i think you can easily max all specialist spots with my exploit.
