Friends randomly disconnect when I am hosting

Whenever I try to host a Civ5 BNW game, the other person who joins always ends up getting disconnected. Not so much until medieval/renaisance era, but by industrial era you can expect him to be disconnected every 10 turns minimum, making the game unplayable. This is weird because this issue only happens when I host, no matter how close or far the other player is. I'm from Romania, tried playing with someone from the US, UK and even someone from Poland. When the person from the US hosted, I managed to play with him just fine (but he can't port forward while at college, so he can't host anymore).

My PC is not an issue, the CPU is an i5-4570, GPU is an nVidia GTX 760, and it also has 8GB of RAM.

My internet connection is not an issue either, here is a link to a speedtest I just did http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3260637100

I port forwarded the following
UDP 1200
UDP 27000-27015
TCP 27020-27039

The LAN which provides me with internet is set as a home network, there is no sharing of any kind enabled on it, nor do I have a firewall enabled.

And whenever I try to play with the other 2 guys, they did the exact same things I did, including port forwarding, and I usually get stuck on "retrieving host information" or something like that.

I tried just about everything I could find, including the usage of hamachi to prevent crashes, but to no avail.
Any and all ideas and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE: I just played with the guy from the US again, got to turn 228 before he disconnected for the first time. That's a new record, but in renaissance as always, so it's obvious how much he'll DC later on.

Nevermind guys, I somehow found a way to fix it a day after posting this.
I had to go in my router's WAN settings, and change the MTU to the maximum value (from 1392 to 1492). That's it, and amazingly enough, it worked with no side effects. Tho I read on the internet that some might experience random internet drops and such, so If internet acts up outside of Civ5 after changing it, change it back to what it was.
