It's abacaxi in Brazilian Portuguese.

Abacaxi is a kind of ananás that's more sweet. They're different, and taste somewhat different.

Ananás or abacaxi plant is a monocot of the bromeliad family, subfamily Bromelioideae. The pineapple grown belong to the species Ananas comosus, which includes many fruit varieties. There are also many wild species, belonging to the same genus and group.

They are, there's just some more significant language changes than say US/BR English because a treaty to keep the language similar was signed later.

WIM, in the grocery store, I believe abacaxi is slightly more expensive for also being more sweet. I can't tell them apart just from looking at them, it might be something like 'laranjas' and 'tangerinas', and perhaps even maybe 'toranjas' but in a smaller degree.

It was an example of how different fruits can look incredibly alike on the outside.

As for toranjas, like I said, they're like oranges and tangerines their difference is more noticeable. Probably more so than the difference between Ananás and Abacaxi.

In Romanian, we don't capitalize "ananas" unless it's at the beginning of a sentence.
