The real Versailles is currently a suburb of Paris :p.
A very good point. If I recall correctly, the Forbidden Palace is, in fact, right smack-dab in the middle of Beijing, i.e. the capital, as well. Having a "second capital" (let alone a third one) that's a considerable distance from the original (like the game gives you the opportunity to do) is extremely rare. The only historical case that comes to mind is Constantinople, the eastern capital of the Roman Empire.

(Perhaps in America too, except Washington just thinks that it's the capital while New York knows that it is...) ;)

The problem with Versailles is that, as a world wonder, it's really costly to build, so it's more of a matter of choosing the most productive city rather than the most centric city in the cluster far from the original capital. Of course there's also the choice of building Versailles at the original capital and moving the regular palace to a less productive city with a good location.

Concerning Beijing and the Forbidden Palace, remember that the capital of China in the dynastic times wasn't there until the Mongols had set up the Khanate of the Great Khan and the Yuan dynasty. Before that it was usually at Nanjing, Xian, Hangzhou or Guangzhou.

Hmm, these pigs are really living it. Private bath house and access to the colisseum! Maybe the nearby Jewish temple wanted to stop them being dirty animals ;)

Interesting. Just checked out your mod thread. Looks like a new toy for daddy @ work tonight :) Hmnn, was Egypt an AI or a player? I didn't have time to read everything.

Egpyt can be played if thats what you mean :D. Note that there are things in that screenshot that are missing from the current version :D Any other comments take it to the thread :p don't want to spam this one

I'll say. One time I tried to attack a SINGLE ARCHER defending a city. It proceeded to kill 5 infantry & 1 tank.

That would be an understatment. I ended up just nuking the city and STILL the archer was there. He finally died once I sent in another tank. Even then he still nearly won

It must secretly have been a spearman disguised as an archer. :spear:
