Is that a native barb city? By the name it seems so.
Isn't that the default name of the Khmer capital? I remember getting a message in that game that "The Khmer civilization has been wiped out!" very early on. So I assume Survy founded Buddhism and then promptly succumbed to a fluky barb attack.

I've had Barbarians build wonders and found like 2 religions.

Never ever land on a new island not colonized after like 75 turns. It'll be infested with barb stacks of death.

Copper. THE game breaking resource in 1895.

Actually, this is a fairly normal occurance. You've worked the mine long enough... Remember the "small possibility of discovering..." Well, you discovered copper in the mine. Lucky you.... (I found Iron in one of my mines recently - I think it was in 1950 or so.)

Who needs crazy aqueducts when you have crazy rivers? Unlike most Civ rivers, it doesn't drain into the ocean, but instead into a one tile lake...beside the ocean

Biggest river I've ever had in a game was a grand total (including the fork about 2/3 of the way down) of 34 (or so) tiles long.

I love it when that happens when I've founded Mining Inc. :goodjob:

I finished that game in the 1970's but no-one had founded any corporations  which is really unusual for me. I would've founded Mining Inc, but I didn't get any Engineers... (I was going for GA's you see :D)

I remember once building a windmill on a plains hill and discovering aluminium in the process.

Copper. THE game breaking resource in 1895.

i got that in my current game. it was my first copper, 2010 AD or later. i'd run engineers in my capital from the very first turn to found Mining Inc with my first GE, so i was thrilled to get the copper. i play with advisor pop-ups on because they make me giggle, and this one sure did. it gave the usual "blah blah allows you to make strong melee units" message. thanks wise guy, but that really isn't a factor in this future start game!

same game, check this out:
FishforUranium.jpg

he built the Manhattan Project. the thing that lets everybody (not just yourself) build nukes. you need uranium to build nukes. he doesn't have any, but he knows i do, he tried to trade me for some before, and he's trying to again now, the turn after he finished MP. what was he thinking? he wanted a headstart on building his SDI for the nukes that he just gave me the ability to build? maybe he's sure i won't declare on him, since he's pleased with me, but he thinks the barbs might nuke him? the barbs which can't possibly show up since there's no land anywhere at all that still has fog of war on it, and that are forbidden from making nukes in the first place, those barbs. btw i did trade him uranium, the whole point of playing future start is to see what wars are like when we have the same exact techs. willem declared on me pre-nukes, but he fought like an idiot so he's dead now.

ps yes it's 2047 AD. i have time turned off since i knew it would take me a loooooong time to be ready to conquer the world *giggle*.

this is the first time i noticed that you get a production bonus on MP for having uranium. as if anybody would build it without uranium, but clearly it happens. the really scary thing is that hatty did the same exact thing, in a different future start game a couple of days ago!

^^Mrs ( or Miss? :dunno: ) Kmad, fish for uranium? :faint: .... Last time i did that nukes were UN banned and I was collecting Sushi resources to try to overrun a AI in both space and diplo ( the same AI that built the space elevator, started to do SS parts and after that sold me Al for Crabs + 20 GPT... noob AI ;) )

actually, when we play the same MMOs hubby gets called Mr. KMad ! i'm way more social than he is, so people tend to meet me first and form more of an impression than quiet hubby does. often a bad one tho. this game, no UN since i disabled everything but domination and conquest, so no way to ban nukes. the goal is to see what end-game war is like when we're tied with the full tech tree. but it takes me so long to get ready, i have serious issues. i muddle thru war, i just can't monger it to save my life.

i'm a permanoob but this week both egyptian leaders have proven to be completely out of their heads. i did make the trade tho, and he's making nukes now. i even traded him happy/health resources for free so that he'd have the production to do it. but i have about 5 times more nukes than he does, just to be on the safe side. i'm really super really going to quit making nukes and start making more ground troops one of these years...

on-topic for this thread, he's being smart here:
Hermitage.jpg

building the Hermitage in a city that i'm culture-pressuring on purpose just to be bratty. it may be too little too late tho, the city just had its first culture revolt so it's not making much progress on the wonder.
