A Lead at Last
Szok paced back and forth through the library, the mounting concerns over Myrthin's apparent disappearance still at the forefront of her mind. Any lead would be a useful-
At that moment, awareness of agents of Myrthin leap into the Knowledge God's mind. Breaking into a sprint, the childlike figure of Szok leapt, and the world shifted around her, snapping back into place around the island of the Tvari. A small animated construct, one of the 'Cheese Demons', stood just before her.
Just behind were two terrified islanders. Taking the creature's distraction, they fled off into the forest, quickly disappearing.
The demon shook its head, then grinned, yellow spikes springing out of its lanky, off-white figure.
"Ah, another visitor!" it exclaimed, "Just in time to eat! You've scared off my friends, but I suppose you'll do."
"I would advise against it. Bring me to Myrthin."
"I will. In pieces, love."
With that, the bizarre creature advanced. The child who was Szok extended her arms, two curved blades of glittering metal materializing. With two swings, the creature was staggering backwards, de-limbed and oozing. Szok's two weapons disappeared as they had arrived, and with a sweeping gesture, the two removed arms rose back into the air.
"Please, I'm not some mortal to eat, I am Szok- and somewhat disappointed that you didn't recognize a non-human aura. Now, could you take me to Myrthin?"
The demon's amorphous face shifted into an extended, fanged scowl, a forked tongue flicking outwards, and it nodded.
"Thank you."
Szok waved her arms, and the arms reattached.
"They're backwards, you witch!"
"I'm sure your master would be amused by your predicament. Now, once I have met Myrthin, your arms can go back to normal. Any more 'fun', and you'll be walking on your face."
