Future Era Start

Sadly, my time with Civ is generally limited, so I cannot play all the weird variants I'd like to. So, anyone actually tried this? I imagine, of course, that it's a quick race to balance out expansion and Spaceship Parts, but what if Space Race is disabled? Also, are any Wonders at all available in this? Finally, and most importantly, is it any fun? I'd work on finding out the answer to that last question myself, but I have a limited amount of time and would really rather not waste it on something that seems cool but is actually quite dull (regarding that last comment, I also kindly request that all the flamers, trolls, and whiners not make the comment I know they're thinking).
