Never tell me the odds
Were do you think all Byzantine Greeks went? They were taken by aliens? Not to say that even today people call themselves Romioi (Romans).
Not sure if serious...
Wait, "reuniting" with Poland? Neither state dates back further than 1917, and they were separate to begin with.![]()

Poland began to form into a recognizable unitary and territorial entity around the middle of the 10th century under the Piast dynasty
Well, the Byzantine Empire collapsed over five hundred years ago, so my assumption would be that they died, and probably some time ago. Were do you think all Byzantine Greeks went? They were taken by aliens? Not to say that even today people call themselves Romioi (Romans).
There was a prominent Irish saint in the sixth century who possessed the same given name as me. Does that suggest to you that I am fifteen hundred years old?I'm not sure if you're on a technicality or what, but
An entity named Poland also exists today, in that very geographical location. Coincidence?
As for Belarus though.. yeah.. I'm not sure if "Re-uniting" is the right term. Not that it will ever happen, but..

I have more similarities to the Kaisar than to the Alemanni, doesn't mean I am the Kaisar. The Byzantines Greeks and the modern Greeks are one and the same. In fact, Modern Greeks have more simiralities to the Byzantines than to the Ancient Greeks.
I fail to see how by virtue of living in one area means you are 'the same' as people who lived there 400 years ago.So who are the Modern Greeks? Are they aliens who came in Greece in 1821?

we have the same customs and religion.
By these standards, Belorussia is a successor of Kievan Rus.We have the same language as Byzantines and Ancient Greeks (do not tell me that we do not have, because I can read with ease the original Herodotus, for example), we have the same names, we live in the same place, we have the same customs and religion. If all these do not convice that Modern Greeks are descentants of the Byzantines, then I do not know what can persuade you.
Sure, many Greeks also descent from Albanians, Turks and Slavs. But all those people were hellenized, their language became Greek, they adopted Greek customs and the Orthodox religion, and this shows the power of Hellenism as a cultural power.
