While the general Hall of Fame is an ongoing competition, we like to run time-definite competitions between updates that we call Gauntlets. Standard Hall of Fame rules (*) still apply, but any games meeting the settings will be counted towards the Gauntlet.

(*) Please read the >> HOF rules << BEFORE playing!

Settings:
 • Victory Condition: Score (though all victory conditions must be enabled)
 • Difficulty: Monarch
 • Starting Era: Ancient
 • Map Size: Standard
 • Map Type: Any
 • Speed: Epic
 • Civ: Russia
 • Opponents: Any
 • Version: 1.74.004, 2.13.004 or 3.19.003
 • Date: 25th September to 25th October 2010
Must not play as Inca.

The highest score wins.

I love Score challenges!
Sadly it will take a while to complete one game.
I have some questions:
1.) Which map type is the best?
2.) What's the best strategy for highest score? I would try to take as much enemies as possible.
3.) Do you need to have enough money to keep research going for a competitive score?
Continue conquest until you're close to domination victory condition then stop.
4.) This one could get tricky, because you can get too close... oh wait I guess we can give away our cities to the enemy? :O
Then play until my score does not get higher and then in the last turn spam settlers + max culture + take max neighboring cities.
5.) I've heard about "Cossack to domination" strategies, but are they coming early enough for a high score?
If I would be more experienced I should know theses things, but I thought there might be some veterans here who like to give advice. That might get you a better competition anyways. ;-)

Score is not a ingame-victory condition.
I guess you mean "any"?
Could also be Time Victory though, which would be totally different.

I remember reading some thread that suggested highest scores were obtained somewhere into a third of the game, with points diminishing with time after that. Does that jive?

Once your "score for winning this turn" goes down, it's time to trip the win.

No takers on this one yet? At the very least someone should post a quick conquest (not even milk it) to post a score .

I've always enjoyed milking games. Since this is a major, plenty of time. I think I will give it a go.

I am working on it.
But the speed and my limited time slow me down.
I have a promising game running, currently in 35BC.

OK, I put one up. Played Peter because I thought his traits were more useful. Big and Small map for a nice Sushi-fest.

I had over 100 cities and had Sushi in almost all when my economy hit the wall. At that point, took a couple of AI cities to tip domination limit.

Final score was 575K. More than double the current best on the HOF table for this speed so I think this is a pretty good effort. :)

One screenshot, my final minimap:

Impressive result!
When did you get Sushi and what's your final date?
The previous highscores where around 1700AD I think.

I got Sushi in 1315 AD. Finished the game in 1704.

By the way, I did a rough count of whips by pulling the autolog into Word and replacing "applied". Looks like I have about 375 whips.
