If I have a unit with level 2 experience, and I merge th is unit with a level 1 experience unit into a Corps, will my Corps have level 2 experience?

Yes.

Yes, but you only keep the experience from the best unit being combined. So if you combine a lvl 3 unit with a lvl 2 unit you lose all of the lvl 2 unit's xp.

That's why you might want to invest in some fresh units once you can get Corps and merge those with your experienced units.
