Gambling should be banned

Ban gambling?

Gambling offers no social benefits whatsoever. It destroys lives, families, and offers nothing in return. It's nothing but a way for the rich to literally steal from the working classes, except gambling is a lot less subtle than their preferred methods.

It returns a thrill to the gambler. Superficially that might not sound particularly beneficial, but most of human endeavour is aimed at thrilling, entertaining ourselves. You may as well ban Hollywood or Disneyland if your going to condemn that.

The OP did have some near sensible posts recently. I had a feeling this was not going to last...

I, however, think that if two spouses share property, one should be able to restrict another's access to casino.

Miraculous. I guess there's hope for us all!

I agree (though not complete restriction, IMO, just a dollar amount restriction).

I am a poker player. having said that I can see reasons for banning gambling

a friend of mine is professional poker player. (for about a year now, so let's see, so far he can afford quite some lifestyle.)

yeah, he produces absolutely nothing and ruins people, but it could be worse, could be a capitalist. :)

What does an Olympian, actor or ride operator produce?

'Nothing', yet we don't condemn the theatre, sports or theme parks.

Gambling should be monopolized by the government. It would be like tax that some people actually want to pay, even get addicted to.

A big improvement over the slush to foreign bank accounts that casinos currently are.

If you really want to ban casinos, you should really ban churches too. They are after in the same business: parting fools from their money.

QFT!

Oh, and arcades too. Yeah, you MIGHT get to play a while and win some tickets and nice prizes for those quarters, but what if you suck?
