Ok, this only occurs on Huge maps, RFC, Earth 1000AD, and WW2 RTW. The game is really slow and sluggish in the beginning and I have to wait a long time between turns. This gets worse and worse untill I end up waiting about 8 minutes between turns. This happens somewhere around the Industrial era.
My computer passes and exceeds all the system reqs for BtS and I have played games with much higher reqs without any problems. Please tell me whats going on so I can fix it.

I believe you are underestimating the requirements of huge maps in Civilization as well as the content load of some of those mods. What are your specs? If they are just at or above the minimum requirements huge maps will put a tremendous strain on your machine.

Huge maps take up a lot more RAM than a standard map. Having more AIs increases turn time due to more calculations being required. Getting a better processor helps make the AI turns go faster, and more RAM makes larger maps playable. I've found that with Civ IV it's ideal to go above the recommended requirements. Mods can make the game slower also depending on what type of mod it is.

Yes I am aware of that, thanks.
