What a disappointing day.
Game loads into menu alright, but will usually crash if I try to load a save game or new game, right around when the Begin Journey Sign appears. Just a crash to desktop and notification that Civ V has stopped working. Sometimes I'm able to get into the game and play a few turns before it crashes. Happens on both D9/D11.
I updated my drivers. I installed that C++ thing from the steam technical pages. Suddenly, it worked, and I played for two hours. It began to thunderstorm so I took an hour break. When I started the computer back up, it went back to the same problem where I either can't load a saved game or if it does, I can play for maybe 3 or more turns before crash. Happens even on the lowest settings and duel map.
Windows 7 64 bit
Core I7-920
Radeon HD 4850 Crossfire
6GB RAM
I can play other games like Crysis/Starcraft 2 at high settings.
