I have twice started a new game and twice I have had to reboot after a system hang. I Just wondering if anybody else has experienced similar and if there is a known work around.

I play with 2 x 8800 GTX in SLI mode and I am fairly confident the problem is not with over-heating. Has anybody had any problems with that card model or with running multiple GPUs in SLI?

When I have the patience to try for another game I'll try running with a single GPU and failing that in DX9 and report back, but any feedback in the meantime would be very much appreciated. :)

The 8800 series is partially making problems.
Try to turn down your settings, and see if the problem still occurres.

Hi, thanks for the reply :)

I tried lowering the settings and turning off AA but to no avail, the system still locks up without warning after about 50 to 60 turns.

I did however find this thread on the 2k forums, and it seems you're right, there are a lot of people having issues with 8800 model cards.

I've tried a number of the suggested fixes from the thread and the only one which has a positive effect is switching down to DX9, but unfortunately after 50-60 turns of playing in DX9 my FPS drops to ~5/s and requires the game to be restarted to become playable again. all very odd as I have 4 gig of ram and 1.5 gig of video memory.

I suppose I can take some solace in the knowledge I'm not the only one with these issues and there's potentially a patch/fix on the way but as it stands the game is not playable for me in it's current state - so with that in mind could somebody please advise me on Steam's returns policy?

I to have the same problem with the game freezing at any random turn from 10 to 100. The patch only randomized the freezing. I have an 8800 GTX 760, AMD Phenom X4, 8g ram. I hope this gets fixed soon!
