Hey, i seem to recall that i asked you to start the thread this time, exactly so that you wouldn't have to focus on my criticism of the show :)

Well, I started the thread just for that reason, but as you noticed, someone else brought the subject up and, as the Borg say, resistance is futile. :)

I like it. Came in with low expectations as I'd seen some people call it a boring episode. But yeah I liked it.

Well, she is already pregnant. And Euron has the power of a kingdom, however insignificant one, behind him.
If she can make him believe he is the father for a cheap price of a quickie... I'd say that is entirely in character.

I mean go rewatch a bunch of season 1, 2, 5, a lot of it people would call boring. It's all slow builds into the climactic battle episodes. I don't think it's boring, we call it story building.

Either way she'll have to say that someone is the father once it gets visible. For that Euron is probably better than Jamie.

Someone needs to re-edit each of the seasons into story line threads so you can watch each of the story lines as a single viewing event. Double up when they come together.

Iirc they try to do that for (relevant) line threads for each episode. Or at least they did for the previous season and now this first episode.

Saw bit here and there, did enjoy the part about her, the fire, and the dragons ... great art work.

Guess the ultimate sin for me was the blind girl calling for her father while being burnt at the stake. Being I am a father, grandfather, and Great grandfather it wasn't my cup of tea.

So did most my viewing in bits and pieces ... not sure if I care how it ends.

Can I be the leading "I don't even watch this show" guy?

Of course, but there may be others out to compete for that title.

It was pretty good. As expected, mostly setup for the rest of the season.
I'm happy that they didn't drag out the Sam needs to tell John bit. Hope John doesn't just sit on the information too long.
Now my greatest worry is that they're going to kill off characters left and right for pure shock value. Too many series do that crap in their last season.

I actually expected Tormund or Berric to die in the final minutes of the first ep, exactly for shock value. When that is the expectation, it is already a very bad sign of a trope-ridden show ^_^

Btw, Bron should have been taken out of circulation seasons ago.

Well I still haven't watched s8 e1 yet as I've got behind with my rewatching the entire series again before watching it. Did s 5 & 6 suck? Yes, rewatching them was a chore. Thankfully I'm on to s7 now which was better so I should be up to date by next week.

I liked the end of 6. Battle of the bastards is pretty cool.

It does seem since they ran out of book material they've been very hesitant to kill of characters of meaning anymore. The biggest names to die in a while are the blackfish and thoros of myr. Well and I guess benjen but he was half dead already. Lame. No rickon was not a meaningful character.

They still do the set pieces like battles well I agree. Less politicking now the sides are clear though which means characters like Varys and Tyrion have less important parts sadly. Methinks you forgot Littlefinger but yes, although I suspect the casualty rate will be high in this final series.
