Game problems

I am New to Civ3 complete and i tried to make a backup of the game and when I tried to play It said could not authenticate disk. I can only use the original I guess to play so for now thats how I play but does any one know why or how to fix this so i can use the back up not the original disk?

Yes I know how and I am sure many do, but it is a subject that is not allowed on the board. It has potential to be use by pirated version and so forth. It is a shame that we are not able to help.
