Does anybody have an "official" list of acronyms used here? I sometimes get lost.

Not in particular, but thanks :)

Cool list but it forgot the the lovely "XD" face to signify either that the user's avatar just died, or to reward someone for killing their avatar.

Origin: Possibly South Park.

Okay I've never heard of it used like that. xD Is usually something really funny.

I didn't really rea that list I posted, but some acronyms have multiple uses, I've never used AA for alternate abilities but it's commonyl used for Anti-Aliasing (which basically smoothes out jagged lines).

I was playing this cheap-o horse game that was originally made in Germany, and I found it hilarious that they just dubbed the English over the voices, so the mouths don't match the words. And in some places, the subtitles showed English, but the characters were screaming something in German.

Badly translated games FTW!

Rant- I cannot stop getting jumped by all of my neighbors at once as the seculids in RTW.

I know it has it's own section, but I just wanted to rant in this newly available thread.

Arche Seleukeia in my current game in EB has lost only a few territories in the extreme north-east to Baktria and Saka Rauka and one or two to Pontus and Armenia. Which considering how utterly HUGE AS is and how many freaking territories they have as well as a lot of decently sized cities,is pretty good. Although all their neighbours except the Ptolemaioi in Aigyptos and the middle east (I should send my diplomat to them again, I havn't updated my map of them in a couple of decades) start out really small.

I wouldn't worry about being at war with your neighbours, the Roem AI is programemd to automatically attack anyone it shares a border with. Just make sure to wipe out a ocuple of the small ones at first.

AS AI is vastly improved in 1.2 over the original 1.1 build. The Ptolies used to run them over largely because of their same AoR buildings, which allow for rapid expansion. Nowadays the Ptolies take a lot longer to get Syria if they do at all.

I know this is a read the friggin instructions type of question, but I will ask anyway. how do you use mods on things you downloaded from steam? It's probably somewhere in the steam directory i would assume, but I don't know where. I would read the instructions, but I've got to go to work;)

It depends if it's a stand-alone mod. If it's stand-alone, you put it in steamapps in your Steam folder.

If it's a mod directly in the game, like with something from Gmod, you put it in it's designated folder of the game.

Any of the mod actually hosted on steam it'self you go to them on the Steam store and click Install (as long as you have the game they require to run, which for some of them is simply any source engine game). Other mods should have instructions with them or self-installers, and will show up as a seperate game in the list (may have to restart steam, restart it after installing something anyways).

Mods for Garry's Mod go into the appropriate folder, usually addons.

Why the hell does this cheap horse game always freeze up when I try to load it? Worked on XP. The screen goes blank, luckily I can get into task manager and kill the process (which is unresponsive). Tried reinstalling DirectX. Nothing on google. Gonna try compatibility mode, if it doesn't work i'll just give up and uninstall, it's taking up half a gig!

Why must I like to play obscure horse games. Sigh....

Uhm, how do you save in Yoshi's Island (the GBA version).

And stay the hell out of my threads.

Are you trying to install it on Vista?

I got it installed, but it freezes up when I go to play it.

I've uninstalled it after trying various things. Just taking up half a gig.

I meant play. Yeah, Vista would be your problem then, tried running it in compatability mode?
