After the Russian SG got derailed by the new patch, the three of us actively taking part (myself unable to play turnsets due to DLCs) decided to give the SG genre of Civ another go.

The leader for this game is, as chosen by random.org, Gandhi, the leader notorious for his split personality. As Gandhi, we get double unhappiness from number of cities but half of the unhappiness normally caused by number of citizens. I'm guessing this means we'd be geared towards a "tall" empire playstyle, no? Our unique unit is the War Elephant, which replaces the Chariot Archer, and our unique building is the Mughal Fort, which replaces the castle.

The only mod I have active is the infoaddict (v.10) mod. I have no premium DLC civs either, so there should be no reason to be unable to join (that was in no way a subtle prod to join :mischief:).

Currently we are playing what I'm going to call 48/24 hour turns...that meaning you have 48 hours to claim your set and then 24 hours from the expiring of the 48 to play it (so if you claim within 10 minutes you basically have 72 hours to play)

As the attachment system is still down, the save can be downloaded from here

I think that longer between turns works best when there are few people on the roster.

    Edit:

Nice silver. With a mint thats some ok gold. Shame we're not on the river.

Do you think we should move and if so where? Warrior to go to the hill 2W first then discuss?

I guess we won't want to settle more than 4-6 cities so city specialization will be pretty important for us. At least untill we get some puppets :shifty:

Opening Tech, Mining > AH > Pottery > Writing?
Go for an early National College?

I really don't know where we would move. The river location is quite frustrating. I'd agree though that moving the warrior to the hill would be best. If there's something in the fog then losing the :c5gold: by settling on the silver may be worth it.

I'd say the NC start probably would be a good way to maximize our trait...we don't really need a lot of core cities. I'll have to look up how to do an NC start properly though...all my attempts at doing it failed miserably...partly due to serious land-grab races.

Yes move the warrior then post a pic. I don't know anything about NC, I'll have to read up on it.

    I reckon SIP as well.

For NC start Tech should be Mining to get our Silver to sell and use and to allow us to increase our production, Pottery > Writing for the Lib and NC. You can put AH in there before Pottery I guess.

Build should be Scout/Warrior > Worker

After the Worker is done you need to kill time till you build the Lib. Probably a Warrior is best.

The worker starts by mining the riverside hill silver then farms the riverside plains tiles. The riverside forest is chopped into the Lib or NC.

Hopefully we sell some silver to AIs and can buy a settler to make up for lost time (not that that matters so much with India).

I think with the NC going Scout>Worker>Warrior would make the most sense, as the scout, well, scouts awfully well. I agree with you on everything else. I hope not to screw up the start...I hope I can time everything right.

As a side note, this is what I love about SG games...it wasn't until I started the Noble's Club in Civ IV that I really learned to properly analyze what I was doing, micromanaging and whatnot, which made the game so much more fun. I haven't quite gotten there in CiV either...hopefully this will do it.

Well sounds like we're all in agreement with the plan, so play away. 20 turn sets sound good as there are just us 3? Or longer?

Sorry guys, due to issues with image hosting and my computer in general I won't be able to get it up for a while. I hoped to do it before I had to get some RL things done but it's not going to happen. I'll be posting it around 7:30 ADT (when I originally hoped to play the turnset).

    Finally...after delays and what not.

Luckily I wrote out all my notes. :D

    Turn 0: Delhi is founded!

    Spoiler :

    Turn 1: Ho hum...

Turn 2: Warrior explores ruins. We come out of them as a Spearman. Let's go find a tank. :p

    Spoiler :

    Turn 3: We meet Lhasa.

    Spoiler :

    Turn 4: Hum de dum...

Turn 5: Delhi grows to size 2.

Turn 6: Scout finishes in Delhi, work started on a Worker. Our Spearman finds Almaty and a barb camp.

    Spoiler :

    Turn 7: Lookie what I found...:D

    Spoiler :
Behold, oh wandering traveler, the wonders of the Cerro de Potosi!

Turn 8: Units just walking about...

Turn 9: Mining comes in, start on AH. The barb camp is cleared for money (we plan to buy a settler later on, right?). Get Shock 1 for the Spearman. And we....

    Spoiler :
Get 90 :c5gold: from ruins! Yay!

Turn 10: We meet another City State...Seoul this time. In addition to that we explore some ruins and...

    Spoiler :
Get Animal Husbandry! Oh how I love ruins...

    So...do we have horses? *drumroll*

    I'd say that's a yes!

    Started Pottery...

    Turn 11: Do dee do...

Turn 12: We meet Kuala Lumpur...how many bleeding cultural City States are there?

    Spoiler :

    Turn 13: Business as usual...

Turn 14: Run into another Barb encampment just south of the CDP (Cerro de Potosi).

Turn 15: Exploring more ruins...also just south of the CDP...

    Spoiler :
    Culture! Sweet...

    I took Tradition...seems like a no-brainer considering our civ.

    Turn 16: Ho hum...

Turn 17: Delhi grows to size 3. Celebrations across the nation! Oh wait....

Turn 18: Pottery is in, so we start on Writing. We also...

    Spoiler :
Meet our first AI! Greetings, Hiawatha! Indians bordering Indians...kinda ironic.

His land that we can see

    Turn 19: Nothing interesting

Turn 20: Worker finished, so work on a Warrior started, which, in a great show of brilliance on my part, will finish on the exact same turn as Writing...nah it was just luck. :p

    Also...

    Spoiler :
    Another one...

So, here is the known world so far:

    Spoiler :

Info Addict....not much interesting yet but for what it's worth:

    Spoiler :

I guess the scout, once a little more healed (he got attacked by the barbs in that camp...only 3 HP left) should probably explore some of the east so we can make a better decision about where to settle our second city.

    Nicely done.

Its a reall shame that this area is so :) poor. I can see 4 mor :) resourses but they are positioned in a way that leaves much to be desired.

If we settled 1S of the CDP then we can pick u both horses and the incense, but also loads of desert.

Also the plains river tile by the pearls could be ok but might piss Hiawatha off and become isolated from our empire.

Will peek at the save this evening.

To pick up that incense we might be better off settling north of KL and buy up tiles to make sure KL doesn't take any. We'd have to move fast to get that though.

As for the CDP itself because it borders on the desert like that I think settling as far away as possible would be best. We're playing the "tall" empire strategy, so we have to be careful to have our city placement be as good as possible.

So for the nest SP should we go for Aristocracy? Aparently the bonus works on National Wonders as well. After Writing maybe go for Philo to open the classical and Piety?

If we settled on the coastal floodplain NW of the hill that would grab the fish and the incense. Alternativaly we could try to grab the Pearls. I guess this can wait till we explore eastwards.

    I'll try to play tomorrow.

I like that floodplain settling location. And then one about 2S of the CDP or so?

Agreed on Aristocracy. After that we'll take whichever one leads to the two below (I really don't know the name...:undecide:)
