Is anyone out there a gardener, or have some experience with this?

I used to live in Utah, I started to get into it before I shipped out to Iraq. For about a month or 2 I was doing great! Then everything died... I used only perennials or whatever...the ones that keep coming back. I tried various seeds and varieties of flowers. Watered them regularly, gave them good pots with mixed up dirt and food and a lot of them died. Well when I get back in about a month i will be buying a house in colorado springs, and come this spring I want to add some curb appeal to the house.

Any tips?

It depends on the seed, the soil, and definitely the weather.

The chemicals in the ground can also affect it I believe.

I love gardening, too!

I grow peppers, tomatos and various plants like sunflowers...In fact I am taking
a small break just now from helping my father do some Autumn garden cleaning...

We also just harvested our (excellent) crop of American parsnips, sent all the way
from the USA by a very kind seed wholesale company! These vegetables are real
big beauties, and we look forward to seeing what can be cooked with them!

:D

For your houseplants, I would start them off under glass, depending on the
type of plant. Make sure you use proper grow soil, and plenty of plant feed.

Pests are kept at bay with a good acid-free whitefly/blackfly killer. I think
your dying plants could be caused by any of these three factors. The climate
might not be suitable, pests or poor soil - Perhaps under/over watering too.

If the soil was good enough for them to bloom fully, I wouldn't suspect it as the cause of quick wilt. Did you weed properly? What kind of pesticides? Do you wander out back when you're drunk? ;) Sun/water is good, but some need specific amounts. Too much/little can be huge.

depends on which one you do. ;)
