GAs and Culture Post Patch

Ok, I am probably just totally stupid and missing something but...

I have been reading a lot of posts about Culture victories post patch and they all talk about getting artist slots to generate as many GAs as possible. What I don;t understand is why.

What happened in the patch that meks GAs so usefull

Like I said, I'm probabl;y missing the obvoius..this is so sad

generating artists for a culture victory has always been useful.
new from patch is freedom tree's finisher doubling landmark culture output.

Ok, So you are using them to build the landmark for culture output and then the new freedom tree finisher bonus doubles that output. Got it. THX!!!
