Geforce Xfx 5500 Problems

HELP¡
I'm running a . . .

AMD SEMPROM 2600 64 BITS
1.00GB of RAM
80G Harddrive (with 40G free space)
Nvidia GeForce 550 XFX
All updated drivers, all updated patches. I'm running my game in LOW settings (which is a crime) and my game constantly crashes to a psychadelic looking/cross hatched screen of death that can only be cured by a hard reboot.

Is your GeForce 5500 FX an AGP or PCI?

I am asking because my dad wanted to play Civ4 but his computer is a Dell Dimension 2500 (which has no AGP slots, go figure) and so I had to get him a 5500 PCI card.

I am not entirely sure on this. How long can you play before the game crashes? Have you gone to the PNY website? I am pretty sure PNY is the company that manfactures 5500 FX cards. Perhaps they can provide technical support? I wish i could help you with more info...

Make sure you have loaded Patch V1.52, and have updated your Video Drivers.

If you still get issues, post your dxdiag on the Technical Support forum as a separate thread in the main forum, and attatch your Dxdiag file

Dxdiag - Start Button - click - select run - type dxdiag - press enter - wait a min - select "save all information" - post on the tech forum as a new thread useing the 'go advanced ' button below

(Dxdiag gives a snapshot of your hardware, software and driver setup with relevant dates.)

Definately go to nVidia and update your drivers if you haven't already. That should probably be step #1.
