Hi all,

First of all, massive love and respect to Leoreth for continuing to make a great game even greater. Who needs Civ 7 when we've got DoC?

Next up, I have upgraded from v.1.16 to v.1.18, and I'm just wondering if there are general tips for how to approach things? I love the look of the new map and the inclusion of the new civs, but all the old strategies are now obselete given the new victory conditions, and i have so many questions before I fully dive in.

1) Is there a good civ to start with to learn the ropes? E.g. China or Egypt?
2) What are the scales of justice and fist symbols in the top left of the screen? What do they mean?
3) The advanced start looks great - just need to get my head around the best way to use that.
4) What would be the best new civ to try?

Thanks in advance,

TsarAndreas

P.s. This is an excellent Xmas present - thanks again!

2) What are the scales of justice and fist symbols in the top left of the screen? What do they mean?
These show your core and periphery population, respectively.

3) The advanced start looks great - just need to get my head around the best way to use that.
Typically, you want to speed up your start, so population points and food resources are typically my go-to. Keep in mind that anything you do not spend gets added to your treasury and can thus be used to fuel research while getting birth modifiers.

4) What would be the best new civ to try?
I really enjoyed South-East Asia, so the Malay, Java, Vietnam and Burma.

1) Is there a good civ to start with to learn the ropes? E.g. China or Egypt?
I would suggest Japan, as there are low risks of being conquered. The UHV are not that easy, but you can play through the entire timeline and watch how the rest of the world does.
