General chess.com talk

Tenna's got a mean blitz game!

I really hope they fix Live Chess one of these days, they've been promising it for months now!

Game

Well, I'm glad I ended up losing on time in that game since I'd feel bad winning because of a glitch. And I thought I had a pretty checkmate in that game, too, on the next few moves because I didn't see 17. Kf6 when I played 14. Nf7+... :(

And apparently I can't convert endgames where I'm up a bishop...

Do you guys and gals think it would be a good move or bad move to join the 5th Chess.com Quick Knockouts (>1000) tournament (1 day/move)? Why or why not?

Personally, I join as many tournaments as I can. (which seems to exclude the fast ones because I can't for the life of me get my average move speed below 7 hours when it needs to be below 3)

Also, I made the 2nd round of this tourney and have picked up a few games in this round.

The best way to improve is to play, and play some more.

Even if I'm not good with 10 games at once?

Playing with people around your rating and slightly higher would be a good idea. As for number of simultaneous games, watch for two things. Be sure you're spending enough time per move, and that you can forget one position and think about the next one without cross-contamination.

I'm at what I consider my limit, so I'll let this one pass. azzaman333 is enough of a challenge for me, and I am playing a player who's only 13 or so points higher than me, besides the last of the 2 games for 'Lit Match'. I'm hoping for at least one win, maybe 2. Winning against azza would be huge, as his record against me is a near-perfect 3-1 (the one loss due to a time-out).

So far in the JP Tourney, it looks like our col (colinf) vs. DaveShack for the title. Though I suppose Narz could still pull an upset and make it into the title match vs. colinf.

I'm going to make a prediction and say colinf will take the gold ahd the year's title, Dave the silver, and Narz the bronze.

I'll make some bad mistakes in our game, I almost always do. It's up to you to capitalise on them though. ;)

Well, I still think you'll finish second to colinf (col here).

Edit: I've been getting some good advice on how to start a local chess club on Chess.com. Does anyone here have anything to say?

The odds are in favor of my not finishing 1st but, again, I will do my darndest to upset your prediction. :D

Just start one. Think of a cool name, I'm happy to critique ideas &/or offer some (first tell me your theme).

Theme? Why would I need something like that? I just want to play chess with others OTB.

I'm in favor of just "Camrose Chess Club".

oh I thought you meant on chess.com as on the chess.com site. I don't know the best way to go about creating a physical local OTB club but I wish you well, such clubs are worth their weight in gold! :)

Besides, I already am the owner of my company's group on Chess.com. If we were bigger, I'd challange NP to a match. ;)

Recently hit my best rating and my lowest number of games in a long time. :D

Although, I fear it's artificially boosted by a couple of timeout wins, but still, I'll take it.
