In a nutshell, more ways to change or modify the yields of the geography like a Grove building when built in the Preserve district does in Civ 6. The Grove building would add yields based on appeal. That is actually very smart game making and there is room for more. In some cases, an improvement like a "lumber mill (civ 6)" could actually be something you build in a plot like a district, and it looks like a lumber mill of its era. Then, all of the tiles that the lumber mill can affect within a range would get more yields. The range could be "adjacent" but in a later era the lumber mill might have a range of 2. Probably after combustion.
So, I guess, in the smallest nutshell possible, more AOE district/building/improvement effects.
