im not much of a writer myself, however, i would like to do a run through a game, showing what i do, and post here my progress.
i chose gengis kahn, large fractal map, agressive ai, noble difficulty, large map, 7 ai, and only conquest victory. as an additional restrian, no open borders.
my plan is this, reaseach hunting first, build warrior, then scout, then worker, reseach archery, build archer, then settler, then reseach agriculture, then animal husbandry, then mining and finally bronseworking, and work from there.

so here's my starting spot, and already i'm faced with a tough choice. do i go for the plain hill? do i settle by the sea? i went ahead and settled in place. i didnt' know gangis started with hunting, so a went a head and started up an archery. as you can see im still building my warrior first, need to get that defence up.

so heres how it panned out.
on third turn got village, gave me 26 gold.
fourth turn, met munsa.
eigth turn, finished archery, going agr.
ninth turn, lost scout to lion. (my poor scout was on a hill too!)
on fifteenth turn, finished worrior, began scout.
eigteenth turn, finished ag, going ani.
on 22nd turn finished scout going worker.
25th turn, got village, 35 gold.
29th turn, finished ani. going mining

on 38th turn, finished mining, going bronze
on 41st turn got map from village
on 42nd turn finish archer, going settler.
on 48th turn got village 48 gold.
on 50th turn, finished bronze, going potery
on 52 turn, finished settler. began baracks.
on 54th turn settled and began barracks
on 57th turn finished baracks going set. (i figure i can use extra warrior to defend.)
58 turn finished bronze going mist. (my plan is to use forests and slavery to rush stonehedge.)
62 turn scout killed by barb warrior.
63 turn finish mist. going horback riding. (yeah went a couple turns over. just can't say no to this game.)

sorry for not posting for a while, holidays, had to do some partying.
any way here is my update
1676 capture jute, trade victoria peace for philosophy. (she only has two cites left, i figure i can come back for her later.)
1691 trade napolean paper and 520 gold for philosophy.
1694 napolean asks to help with war against catherine. i agree, wanting to keep him as ally.
1697 begin invasion of rosevelts territoy, my army is currently not very big, about 4 cats, 3 knights 6 maces and a couple cross bowman, but i figure napolean has been keeping rosevelt pretty busy, and i have most of my cites pumping military.
1703 napolean makes peace with cath. i imedately do same, not wanting to face two armies at same time.
1706 trade maps with napolean.
1721 capture phile.
1736 finish chemestry, going education. (had to lower my research to 20% for a while just to fight upkeep.)
1742 capture sanfran.
1748 asoka discovers liberalism. (darn him!)
1752 capture washington.

1840 napolean asks me to convert to representation, i agree, it takes 3 turns to finish anarcy.

well i must admit, this game turned out to be harder than thought it would, 3 times i delacred war on asoka only to have my massive army delt a crushing blow. so this time i decided to try napoelan first, then build mechanized infantry to take on asoka. heres my update.

1928 napolean captures portland (both these cities where only minimally defended, two infantry each, and he lost nearly half his invasion army in caturing them.)

(imedately after declaring war on russia, my money supply went form -130 per turn to -435 per turn , i reduced reseach to 0% and then increased culture to 30 %, this brought it back to -100.)

1965 capture oxford, anasazi. finish monothesim (it was one of the few techs could afford, everying else is over 30 turns!)
1969 capture lyons, finish literature, begin computers.
1975 capture napoleans last city.
1982 capture catherines last city. (finnally!)
im thinking about cleanig up vic while i wait for computers to finish and go straight for robotics from there.

so this is my final update and im afriad its a dissapointing one.
1990 delcare war on victoria
1991 capture canterbery

1997 capture dover, victorias last city. (i can see asoka has robotics as his cites are defended by mech. inf.)
2004 finish robotics, begin upgrading units, going tech path for composites.
2012 declare war on asoka, finish rocketry
2013 capture jaipur (this city was on asokas main island)
2015 capture chehalis, juiper recaptured by asoka
2016 my entire invasion army, 4 transports of mech infantry, wiped out.
2019 capture dacra finish satalites
2023 finish composites
2026 another 4 transports of mech. infantry wiped out as soon as it lands.
2035, i hit asoka from two sides this time,4 transports each, i barely managed to capture and destroy 1 city before my army is wiped out.
i declared peace with asoka the next turn and decided to call it quits.

ive never ever seen an ai build so much military before in any game i've played. if you guys would like i'll post the save game from 1986.
