I've seen them settle parts of Africa (Tanzania and Namibia). They do it later them other European Colonial Powers, but that's how it should be.

They will only settle Africa if they get a city from the congress otherwise they always stay in Europe. I´ve seen them in the states once when i started an unlocked America game though heh was a bit weird.

I would imagine that the lack of ocean access, compared to real life, means they simply can't colonise as quickly as the western European powers.

I've seen them find Mzizima, Deutchenhof (Tanzania), Keetmanshoop, Luderitz (Namibia) and Kamarunstadt (Cameroon) when I had removed a bit of jungle there.

Never seen them find a city in the Americas, through.

In my last game as America, Germany had settled in the Louisiana area and up north in canada ("Little Germany" the city was called). The rest of the eastern part of North America was settled by England and Spain.

In the restart of the English game I just completed they done the same. They even conquered the Aztecs at one point and made them a vassal but at some point around 1700 something happened to them in New Mexico/Louisiana and the Aztecs had a resurgence and became Spains Vassal. None of it effected my march to victory or my tasty North West American colonies mind you. I have also seen them in Africa when I was playing the Dutch but they only had one city and I *think* it may have been a captured or traded independent city. Quilleuen or something above Zimbabwe.

A small correction: it is a Native city and is called Quelimane.

anyone ever have a game where the crazy germans didn't even have access to the sea? in one of my games every city was 1 tile away from any ocean access. they became an extremely powerful land power though, and eventually grabbed novogorad in the late 19th century.

Its seems to be rare but they do colonize, i guess i was wrong cause i just saw them with Ebennezer in America.
