How do guys get the super high scores in the HOF and gauntlet games? I'm not so interested in the way people get it so high during a time victory, but how players are getting it so high in only a short amount of turn...for example here are some HOF postings

kcd_swede - 3895 BC, Turn 7, 12400 points, Deity, Domination, Marathon, Duel, Great Plains, Huns (Attila) [BNW]
keg - 3310 BC, Turn 46, 14533 points, Deity, Domination, Marathon, Duel, Great Plains, Huns (Attila) [BNW]

turn 7 and 12,400 points!!!! How is this possible?
Turn 46 and 14,533 points!!! Wow how are they doing this?

There's a bonus for winning a game ultra early which is based on number of turns remaining.

Note the Marathon, Duel, and Great Plains:

The Marathon part gives them the inflated ultra early bonus

The Duel part means they only have one AI opponent

The Great Plains is a region script that is over 95% land. There will also be a lot of Cows on this.

And they are playing the Huns which starts with Animal Husbandry.

That exhausts the turn 7 advantages to Huns; but that turn 46 one might have been enough to build their UU.

Interesting I didn't know there was an early victory score boost...That said, how on earth do you beat deity on turn 7?

For that, I'd recommend asking kcd_swede who did it.

It seems pretty obvious: reroll till you get a close AI capital, then find a goody hutt and reroll till your warrior gets a ram.

Then finish the game :p

Only explanation I can find.

yeah there is a reason you only see this with the settings "duel" and "Attila".

I find it interesting that they only got 12,400 score for that entry, as I have two entries with similar settings for t7 victories, and got 24,100 for both. Interestingly one entry was Standard speed, the other Epic, and both have the same exact score, so clearly game speed wasn't calculated in. Do note, however, that those games were only G+K, I have yet to submit any BNW games to HoF.

Also, for HoF entries you are not allowed to reroll mid-game, you have to start a fresh new one, so if you rush your warrior and he pops a ruin for culture, then reroll till he gets upgraded, they will recognize that and deny your entry. They know this by checking the session numbers in your submitted save files. If they suspect a mid-game reroll, they will ask you to submit even more saves from that game to verify their suspicion.

My HoF Atilla t7 entries: http://hof.civfanatics.net/civ5/game_info.php?dsply=&entryID=5115 & http://hof.civfanatics.net/civ5/game_info.php?dsply=&entryID=5116
This one boggles my mind though, as it's the same settings (but Marathon) but it's a t10 victory that results in 24,100: http://hof.civfanatics.net/civ5/game_info.php?dsply=&entryID=5118

More curiosity here, two Atilla Duel entries, one on t31, the other on t32, but the t32 got 200 points more than the t31 for a t32 at 24,550 Here they are: t31 http://hof.civfanatics.net/civ5/game_info.php?dsply=&entryID=5131 t32 http://hof.civfanatics.net/civ5/game_info.php?dsply=&entryID=5129

As you can see, I've tried very hard to maximize a Duel Atilla rush, and can't seem to get under a t7 no matter how hard I tried, although I did get a wide range of scores that don't quite seem to correlate.. Then again, with enough runs as I've done, there's always that chance game where I have my settler pop 4 ruins for two techs, culture boost for free policy, and faith boost for free pantheon in the time it takes my warrior to pop an upgrade, find the enemy, and kill the city (planting the settler right before taking the capital) and sometimes my warrior pops more ruins on the way to the capital, it all depends I suppose. Plenty of ways to boost the score.

EDIT: Oh yea, now I remember... I got the higher scores by jacking city states on the way to the enemies capital, hehe. More cities = more score.
