Getting batch files to work

In more than a couple of scenarios you have to change out the rules and events via a batch file. I'm on XP and the batch file loads for a half second then closes. I hear this can be run through a command prompt, which leads to another problem. I don't know how to work a command prompt. I don't know how to run a batch file, finding the file it's in, nothing.

Can I get some help?

right click on the command prompt icon and run it as an admin. Change directory via cd command to where the batch file is. Specify the full name of the batch file at the prompt and hit return.
