Hey all,

Has anyone ever tried, or does anyone know if you can get rid of drafting?

I want to see how it is without it since it sacrifices population points.

Thanks! :)

Don't switch to Nationhood. Simple.
As for the AI, it'll still use the whip cheat with the Slavery civic to get units to magically appear in its cities for 1 pop each during the start of your turn (instead of the start of the AI's). I don't know what you can do about the AI.

You can disable drafting by using custom assets.
The relevant file is assets/xml/GameInfo/CivicInfo.xml
In the nationhood section there is a line like this:
<iMaxConscript>3</iMaxConscript>
Change it to 0. (Do this using custom assets rather than editing the original files.)

But what CajNatalie said is true. I'm not really sure what you would hope to achieve by disabling conscription.

The AI doesn't cheat in there, my friend .... all the units that are going to appear in the next turn ( no matter if whipped, $rushed or simply finished a normal production ) are added to the player right after he finished his turn and before the next player in line picks the game, no matter if human or not. Since it applies to everyone, it is hard to call it a cheat, no? :p

Yeah many times I whipped a defender just as a barb or AI was about to take a city in the early game.

Oh? o.O
I've never seen my new units stood there all sparkly in blue auras while the AI moves around doing stuff... maybe I just never actively looked out for this happening. o.o
XD

Yeah, if you whip a unit then it can defend immediately after you end your turn; but you can only move the unit on the turn after you whip. On the other hand, a drafted unit can move on the same turn it is drafted.

Hard to call it a cheat? Not at all.

It's a cheat! It's a cheat! It's a cheat! It's a cheat!

See - that wasn't hard at all and I did it 4 times to boot.
Spoiler :
I know it isn't a cheat - just being silly and saying it isn't hard to call it a cheat.
