EB just called to say I could pick the game up this arvo. They were of the view that it unlocks at midnight, or 11 hours from now, whereas Steam advises that the game unlocks in 20 hours or so.
Does anyone have anything more definite about when civ will be playable?

There were a couple of thread on a few different ways to achieve it. None of them seemed the slightest big illegal, but the chaps that run this site must be North American and want bragging rights to the rest of the world, as they seem to have deleted the threads.
Well I'm doing my install right now, so we'll see what happens.
All steam says is 'not unlocked' so won't let me install from disc. I can do the preload but I'm frankly a bit hesitant to download 5gig of game data when I have better things to spend my limit on.
The blurb inside steam says it unlocks at 5pm PST, which would be 10am Sydney time (why 10am, ffs), frankly this is just ridiculous.

are you able to actually install? or just preloading?
Install. But it stopped saying that the game hasn't been released yet so it cancelled the install.
I have the demo installed too, so I'm not even sure if it installed the actual full game or not.
nah, i am preloading now (because i have the bandwidth to burn) and was hoping that it would take the demo files for the game .... it doesnt, so im down another 4.5 gig ...
