Getting the most out of Tithes

What are the best ways to get the most $ out of tithes? Should you p!$$ off you entire country, Then build temples, etc? I'm already kicking out 400 gold a turn, but I'm greedy, and want to get as much as I can.

Ani tips would be welcome.

I'm not sure what you're asking. If you're in fundy (which I assume you are, given that you're asking about tithes) you don't have to try to piss off your country - they get "happified" regardless. If you're relying on thithes, then, yes, building happy improvements like temples will get you more. Of course they don't pay off for quite some time. If a temple gets you 2g in tithes (I can't remember how much it actually pays) it will take about 40 turns to recoup the cost of rushing the building. The most cost effective way to get tithes is to build Mike's chapel and Bach's cathedral - that will give you 5 or 6g tithes in every city, without having to build any improvements. These will pay for their construction cost fairly quickly if you have a lot of cities.

Now I'll give the standard response: If you're really greedy and want lots and lots of gold, build a power democracy and trade heavily. If you insist on using Fundy, get your cities to celebrate (giving you the extra trade arrow per square) then deliver demanded trade goods for fat bonuses (along with your tithes).

You are really not greedy. I spend 400 gold one a one-turn airport... in city after city after city after city after city... on the same turn. But not in Fundy. In Democracy.

Tim had it right. Build a proper democracy... a Power Democracy, and you will see how a single freight can buy an entire wonder with cash, and pay for 2/3 of a 2200 beaker science advance. Oh, that is with undemanded cloth, too. That's greed.

The best way to get the most out of tithes is to let the content improvements (temples, colleseums, cathedrals) remove the unhappy dudes in Democracy, so you grow one citizen per day via WLTP (We Love The President) celebrations.

If you insist on wallowing in 400g of chump change per turn (instead of 4,000 to 5,000 in taxes, at 70% in a ~60-city PD), then build Michelangelos Chapel (3g tithe per city) and JS Bach (2g/turn). Building temples & colleseums are not really cost effective if you are going to stay in Fundy for the rest of late game. Tithes are not multiplied by improvements, either.

So how to get the most out of tithes? Get out of tithes... leave Fundy!
