Can you recall accepting a friendly gift of monetary value? Do you like to buy gifts for friends?

I cant recall offering anyone a gift of value, yet I hear of it happening often enough. I can recall being offered gifts, even from family, and those I always refuse. From a cheap wristwatch to a long distance planeticket Ive been offered some goodies, but the principle of gifting for no reason doesnt seem to play a part in my life. Are we Civfanatics all selfish people?

I think that when you are young a gift is an enigma. When you get older, it becomes more of a chore or something expected. Every once in a while it is spiced up by meeting new people, but then it falls back into a habit.

Giving a gift to get one in return would be selfish. Expecting a gift would be selfish. If you just stop giving gifts, I would not say that is selfish - priorities change.

ok thanks for the response, its comforting that nobody can recall accepting a friendly gift of monetary value. i suppose theres nothing wrong with a gift that provides opportunity; be that a selfish gift, a simple gesture or otherwise.
