As for my advice, Autocracy and Freedom have good synergy.

Send your settler to that 7 tile away beautiful ZOMG 3xgems hill+river location without any escort.

Give breathing space between cities so that a previosly beaten 1 city Civ can come and settle 1 pop city later in the game on the main trade highway between your capital and the rest of your empire.

Order your scout to move 2 tile each turn so they can end up just to a barb camp.

Fight on marsh, if not possible on grassland and deserts. Enjoy the scenery.

Always attack over rivers. Maybe the Divine Will favor your troops and divide the river for safe passage.


Research first sailing then optics regardless of map.

Choose England on Pangae map for that extra challenge.

Choose raging barbarians on Deity for that spicy flavor.

Move your Great General around in his chariot/jeep without escort. After all he is a great general.
