Gods & Kings: new civs don't show up in World Builder?

Hello.

I've been making a world map for Civ V for the better part of a year now. I just bought Gods & Kings and thought 'great, now I can add new civs on my map!'. Alas it was not to be. The new civs don't show up in the list of placable starting cities, and the new City States only show as generic 'City State' labels. I tested it and in-game such a 'generic' CS doesn't show up at all.

So... How can I correct this? Whatever you do, don't tell me I'll have to restart my map from scratch; Mr Vader's got nothing on my 'NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!' if that is the case. :lol:

I had to remove my original Civ V installation due to some comp problems (reinstalled Windows). I'm not sure what the original path of my installation was, but I think it's different from the new one.

I do have Great War Infantry and whatnot in my unit list. For some reason transport ships don't show up though (I use the 'Have Fun!' modcomp to reveal the map in-game, and you can place units with it too; not sure if the ships would be present in-game if I actually started a game and played on the map).

@whoward69: I don't want my map to become a mod or a scenario; I want it to be a map only. But maybe what you propose doesn't change the status of the map? I'll look into it in a sec.
Edit: no luck there, the new civs and CSs are not present in the Scenario Editor either. Well, City States are listed as 'City State', but they don't appear in-game if I put them on the map.

EDIT: Lol @ me for transport ships... Kinda shows that I've played 60 hours and made my map for at least 100. :p Anyways, it would be nice to have some kind of fix for this problem as my map is in fact quite awesome (well, there's no tundra in Moscow and the British Isles are not a blob of bird goo, etc). ;)

I'm not sure about the bumping rules on this forum - seems to be slow-moving enough that a bump wouldn't hurt. I know I'm still on the first page but still - I really need a way to fix this before I resume working on the map. It would be just my luck to perfect every starting location, including the DLC Civs' (which I just bought in order to finish the map...), and then find out I can't add them for some obscure technical reason.

The installation path is the one that Steam suggests (couldn't alter it during installation, I could sware it was possible before): C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization V . There is a txt-file called "Install script" in the SDK folder that says this:

Code:
"InstallScript"
{
	"Registry"
	{
		"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Firaxis\\Civilization5"
		{
			"string"
			{
				"SdkPath"	"%INSTALLDIR%"
				"ModBuddyExe"	"%INSTALLDIR%\\ModBuddy\\ModBuddy.exe"
			}

			"dword"
			{
				"SdkVersion"	"1"
			}
		}
	}
}

It's all Greek to me, but doesn't this mean that the program automatically finds the correct installation path? So the new Civs should be added by default?

It's all very confusing... Mongolia is present in the player list, although it is technically a DLC civ. Ofc it was already available when I started making the map. But then all the UUs are present too! I can make Russian or American Hwach'as, but not Korean ones! :crazyeye:

Edit: Natural Wonders show up too, it's only the new Civs and CSs that are missing.

Edit2: Tried starting a new map for the hell of it... In it NO Civs or CSs show up! :lol: I can only set the starting locations to 'random', and there's no Civs or SCs in the scenario editor so I cannot add them from there either. I feel that something must've gone amiss with my Civ V installation... I remember Windows b!tching about it, 'Are you sure this program installed correctly blah blah'. I guess I'll try re-installing and see how this affects my map.

The offer still stands, regardless: whoever helps me with this problem gets their own little island on my map. :)

Not to my knowledge... If no spies have been to my apartment. :) Could it be some kind of trace from my earlier installation? I did empty the whole drive when I re-installed Windows, but I've heard that things may linger sometimes unless you take special measures when formatting. It could explain the error I got when I re-installed Civ.

Anyways, I'll try to re-install Civ V, then maybe Windows (I've got a few other problems due to some bad choices with update options in another proggy).

Tried re-installing Civ V... This time I downloaded from Steam (last two times were box installations). The exact same issues persist. I noticed that Steam now complains that it's set in compatibility mode; it says it run in Vista compatibility mode and the choice box is greyed-out so I can't change that. I doubt it has to do with the map problems though. Fwiw, when I uninstalled Civ V it said that something wasn't right about that (generic error msg).

I guess I'm out of luck until I re-install Windows. Bleh. Just got everything into order and then I update a lousy cloud program that screws up my resource management... Now when I open Windows I have to stare 1 minute at opening and closing boxes. 'Resource management has stopped working... Restarting resource management', etc, until it finally loads properly and the boxes stop appearing. Maybe this is what screws up Civ V, too?

I have the DLC and G&K and decided to build a map using world builder and get the same thing. The map is there, but the barbarian units I placed, the starting cities, the improvements, and the civ names all get lost when trying to play the map. It comes up under mods/single player with the correct number of civs based on what I picked, but it loses all the other info that was set such as victory conditions and the civilization names.

I even went to modbuddy and made a map pack and tried it enable that mod and that didn't make a difference.

The only thing I can think of that is causing that bug is that my Civ 5 folder on a different drive than default.

You lucky man, I can't even *place* the starting cities. :p Fwiw, my CiV folder is in the default place (x86 Program Files); for some reason I couldn't change the path when installing. It didn't even ask me, just started installing, weird really since I did change it the first time I installed CiV.

I haven't tried re-installing Windows yet since I need my comp for work and it's a huge hassle every time. I'll post the results in this thread when I get around to it, although expect me to do it from the library comp as I will throw this one out of the window if the problem isn't fixed. :lol:

One other thing: I never managed to install the VisualStudio thingamajig that ModBuddy is so very fond of; it was one of the reasons why I decided to make my map just a map and not a mod. I'm not sure how this might affect things, but it's another thing to consider at least.

I'm writing this to let the world know how stupid I am, so that I might be wiser in the future. Somehow I never *actually clicked* on the little '+' sign in the Scenario Editor window... :wallbash::aargh:' I didn't have to before, so why would I have to now?' must've been my subconscious thought pattern. The new Civs and CSs appear just fine when I click the stupid, tiny little button. I must've been crazy not to think of pressing it... Hey, people vote for the Nazis and jump into volcanoes, so I suppose crazier things do happen. :lol:

So... No more help needed, unless someone can donate me a new brain. :borg:

Now I'm *not* happy that I can only add 22 civs per map, but I suppose that's hard-coded? If it is, it's comforting to know that Firaxis too has stupid people in their ranks. :bounce::eekdance:
