I bet you still smell beautiful though.
Close or exact. We have a lot of luxuries, so close similarities are bound to occur. If its not exactly the same seems the right approach to me.
@Gazebo , is there any chance you, Ilteroi or someone else could fix the Marble problem that we've been talking about for years now? I had several starts in a row with just one Marble on the map, which gives one civ a very easy +10% culture in all cities and either greatly reduces or increases the game difficulty.
That is a map script issue, not a VP issue. Use a map script that doesn't place only 1 of a luxury.
Is Communitas map without this bug?
I've seen it happen both on Pangea and Oval. Which similar map scripts/types could I use that would solve this?
Could VP somehow solve/change this for Pangea/Oval?
I don’t do mapscripts.
Then would you perhaps be open to a change of marble monopoly bonus, from a percentage one to perhaps 3 gold per tile? That would lessen the problem of 1-copy monopolies.
I've never had this happen with my favorite map: Tectonic. Also if you're playing a map smaller than standard I would guess it's more common.
God no. The bonus is meant to be big because it's normally really hard to assemble a monopoly. Changing it would hurt waaaay more than help.
I've never run into this problem with Planet Simulator either. I don't think I've seen less than 4 copies of any luxury on a Standard size map.
I've never seen only 1 marble on communitas script either, or if I did I didn't notice.
We made a decision a long time ago to somewhat use Communitas as our balance map (and standard as our balance size). I don't think we should make changes to account for bugs in other map scripts.
We did? I never test on Communitas.
Was it continents I am thinking of then? I know we decided on a map type at some point.
The discussions always point to it being a weird outlier that gives too much strategies and has some other odd idiosyncrasies.
Balancing around it hurts all other map types. Just use Tectonics if you want something similar without the same issues.
This is a real shame, since Communitas gives most interesting maps, in terms of military tactics, but it gives also far too many resourced tiles, and far too little fish.
I'm fine with Gazebo balancing on vanilla Continents map script, since it is the most balanced after all.
If VP balanced around communitas then Aztecs would need a nerf. It seems like communitas puts a lake every 3rd tile, it’s absurd. I really don’t like what communitas does to continent shapes either. Weird 1 tile ocean trenches everywhere. The map type heavily favors civs that rush the top of the ancient tech tree
Actually I balance on Sandstorm only.
Nah, Continents, Pangaea and Terra (for settling testing).
How is Pangaea balanced for naval focused civs like Polynesia? Are those civs supposed to be disabled?
Separate names with a comma.
