hello there, you civers around the world.

since i dont have all the time in the world to play civ 3 (job, girlfriend, family..) im depending on finding a good and enjoyable :) starting position to make the best of the hours in front of the pc :D .

it would be very kind if someone could post a simple savegame, non-edited, basic rules,in a very early starting position (4000bc?) that has proven  to be an enjoyable game way to the end. but no huge maps, max 8 (?) civ because otherwise turns just take too much time.

im a rather experienced player (since the first days of civ) so the level should be regent+1/+2 but i have a lot of bad habits. i consider enjoyable: no tiny island as starting position, capital city is near river, some resources nearby, no endless tundra or deserts, max 1or 2 AI on continent. i hate to be stressed from the beginning of the game, i sort of enjoy the rising pressure as units improve and more strategic and tactical features are availabl ;)

since civ 3 is rather new to me i have no special preference concerning the nationality or its abilities. i experienced though that expansionist an militaristic is not what i need, since I AM THAT WAY ...:king: .

Enough of that: if anyone has a nice savegame on his harddrive that he or she considers worth to be played... BRING IT ON.

thanks a lot

Why not download the Realistic Starting Nations mod from this site? It uses the reasonably accurate world map Marla supplied, and Historical starting positions for the civs you pick, plus Africa, Aztecs, and Iroquois are severely handicapped.

I suggest Rome without Germany. Or Egypt. Japan has no shot if China is in the game.

It can work with 8 civs. Even so, turns are getting awfully long in the current (for me) 18th century.

i usually dont like those realistic maps cause i like to explore the world as if it was completely new to me.

plus: i prefer maps in island / pangea style, that gives me some time to build up. i just dont like large continents whith everybody running around on "my land".

alternatively i would like to know where i can find some user created cool maps that somehow match my preferences.
